The installation process of prison fences
Step 1: Site Layout & Marking
Clear the fence line. Mark post centers with string line and spray paint. Standard post spacing: 2.0m – 3.0m (depending on panel length).
Step 2: Post Hole Excavation
Dig holes to depth of at least 800mm for a 2.4m post (1/3 of post height). Hole diameter ≈ 3× post width. Add 100mm gravel base for drainage.
Step 3: Post Setting & Concrete
Insert post, brace plumb in both directions. Pour C25 concrete, vibrate to remove air pockets. Allow to cure for minimum 72 hours before loading.
Step 4: Panel Preparation
Unpack 358 mesh panels, inspect coating for damage. Sort by height. For H‑Post system, ensure clean edges; for I&M Post, confirm panel length matches spacing.
Step 5: Panel Mounting
H‑Post system: Slide panel vertically into the H-slot (no exposed bolts). Use rubber mallet to seat fully.
I&M Post system: Attach spider clips at top, middle, bottom. Secure with one-way security bolts and torque wrench (40–50 Nm). Bolt heads break automatically.
Step 6: Top Extensions & Razor Wire (if required)
Bolt Y‑post or L‑post extensions using anti‑tamper bolts. Unroll concertina razor wire and attach to extension arms with galvanized clips every 300mm. Tension slightly to prevent sagging.
Step 7: Final Inspection & Handover
Check: posts plumb (<2mm per meter), panels level, all bolts tight, no sharp edges, coating intact. Verify gate swing and lock operation. Provide as‑built record and torque test report.
